Job description

Responsible for independently conducting quantitative analytics and modeling projects. Responsible for developing new models, analytic processes or systems approaches. Creates documentation for all activities and works with Technology staff in design of any system to run models developed. Incumbents possess excellent quantitative/analytic skills and a broad knowledge of financial markets and products.
Quantitative Finance Analyst– Scenario Development Enhancement Team.
This position is in the Scenario Development and Enhancement Team of the Global Anti-Money Laundering (AML) - Financial Intelligence Unit. 
The candidate is responsible for developing and validating quantitative models/scenarios that are used to detect suspicious activity in support of the firm's strategic efforts to mitigate money laundering and terrorist financing risk.
The candidate is expected to collaborate with AML Subject Matter Experts and Risk Managers to develop and enhance methodologies for detecting money laundering and other suspicions activity and to validate and tune current models/scenarios through analytics and intelligence discovery.
Candidates should have a strong understanding of  financial transaction data, be able to assess and communicate assumptions underlying the data sources, and be proficient in methods of data extraction, transformation, and loading data from different operating systems. 
The successful candidate should be able to maintain a strong focus on data quality/consistency, demonstrate strategic and creative thinking , be comfortable in an environment where outcomes may be ambiguous, be able to develop a plan of action, execute that plan in a reasonable amount of time, and deliver/present results in a thorough and organized manner.  Teamwork is essential and the ability to function effectively in a cooperative environment is required.

Qualifications

Required Skills:
  • Candidate must demonstrate a combination of leadership, business acumen, quantitative modeling and analysis skills, strategic and creative thinking, and satisfactory written and oral communications skills.
  • Must have 2+ years of knowledge of databases, datawarehousing and business intelligence tools, such as SAS, Matlab, R, SQL.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word,Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access).
  • Must have strong problem solving skills and be able to prioritize and work on multiple projects at a time.
Desired Skills:
  • Understanding of (or demonstrable aptitude for) financial services and products, analytic experiences in AML.
  • Mastersor Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics.
  • Must be a self-motivated worker who is comfortable and effective working with varying levels of guidance.
